I need some input on this piece as i have only showed it to two people and have been told by one that it wasn't worth much but they would like to have itand was offered $50 for it. the other person almost had a stoke when i showed him the plate and he told me alittle more about it. he told me it was mid1800's when this was made and the chips didn't hurt the piece one bit because it was made to be used and it was used.. in N.C. pottey is big time andmy family name is known for pottey in these parts and all i know is it came from my father's side of the family which is the Craven name and i never meetany of them as my father was an only child and his father died in 1958 which was my grandfather and they lived in Ramseur i guess all of there life and thisplate belonged to my great great grandmother i think as my father used it when he was a kid in the 1930's.. it is made from Randolph County clay i am toldwhich Ramseur is in this county and i live in Asheboro which is 10miles east of Ramseur and i know Asheboro is over 200 years old as city.. i was told toreseach the piece back to who owned it and what there names was and to keep it in a safe place. i ask him for a value on the piece but he couldn't reallygive me a price but said if it was at auction and 2 or 3 people want it well there would be no telling what it bring.. i wanted to insure the piece butdon't know value on it.
