I was on vacation this last weekend up in Northern WI. My uncle just got back Saturday from a fishing trip in Canada with my other uncles. He just got home on Saturday night.

Anyhow, I got a phone call from my mother about 6:30pm last night from her and found out that my uncle that just got home had to evacuate his house on Monday morning. He and his wife filled up their cars with whatever they could fit in there, called their 2 kids to see if they wanted anything particular out of the house, then went to the neighbors (that I assume were on vacation) to try and get their cat when it tore into the webbed area on his hand between his thumb and pointer finger. He spent 2 hours in the ER getting that stitched and left the cat.

He said that he had ash falling on his house and could hear the roar of the fire from his house. The nurse at the ER that was taking care of him lived in the next canyon over and didn't get a chance to grab anything and lost her house already.

I received another phone call tonight from my mom telling me that it was not verified yet, but sounds like they lost their house today to the fire. He had a beautiful log house that I saw when I was about 7 years old (about 24 years ago) and it was in the beginning of being built. I never got to see it finished other than what I have seen in pictures. He lives in Sunshine Canyon, right outside of Boulder. Wow, seems to hit so much closer to home when it is part of your family that gets the tragedy. I think it would be alot worse knowing that your house is going to burn down and to think that you should have grabbed this or that.

My prayers go out to all the victims of this wildfire..........
