I myself have always had a thing for sleeper looking cars that are much faster than they look.I have always also liked GM B-Body Impalas and their no flash brothers the Belair and Biscaynes. I missed a very nice 1966 Biscayne magazine cover car on ebay 2 years ago which is posted in the pics below, but vowed to someday find a 66 Biscayne or Belair sooner or later.
Heres the car I missed out on,just couldnt afford it at the time even though I tried to get some finances in order,it sold for 24K I think I remember.
I had an old friend who kept saying he had a nice low mileage 66 Belair barn find at a friends that had a quickie paint job,new exhaustr, good tires, and more for sale.Naturally I said oh yeah sure, and still didnt put much faith in it til he drove up in this.
Needless to say I was shocked and sorry I doubted him,as he brought an almost identical car as my dream car, same color and interior plus its got an honest 34K miles and very solid just needing interior fabric work.We struck a deal and I purchased the car which has a 283 and power glide trans.
I soon started ordering items like frt disc brakes,15x8 and 15x6 steelies and new tires in the 275/60 and 215/70 sizes.Flowmasters were installed,a retro Sun tach installed, lowered the frt 2" and the rear 2" and removed an add on a/c unit that worked but didnt match the car.
Turned white walls around on the stock 14's
Tried on a set of my Weld Drag lites
Rear lowered with 15x8 and 275/60
Frt lowered,frt disc brakes,and 15x6 and 215/70
I will have to fix a little rust in some common areas but not much. I am saving what I can to put towards interior, and also towards either a big CU IN smallblock,or a big CU IN Bigblock to stuff under the hood to complete the "sleeper" image.
Show off your favorite sleepers OR your own sleepers if you have them.
