    Default Opinions on a game system wanted

    I am trying to decide which game system to purchase for my family. My wife would prefer a Wii because it has fitness games. The kids want either a Playstationor X box. I don`t know much about any of them, so I would like your opinions on the pros & cons of each one. Thanks alot. Kevin

    I have a XBox and a Wii.I would say if it is for the family go with the wii.I love the Xbox as it is for serious gamers and for kids.The Wii is for the wholefamilt with a few serious games.My inlaws are in there 50s and have never played a video game in their lives,and my father in law has had 3 back surgeries andcant bend and tie his own shoe and he has played the Wii.The Wii has alot of games but not alot of great games and the Xbox has alot of great games but notmany for the family.I have played monopoly,scene it,and a few others with my wife on xbox.I have also played a few with my older son,but for the whole familyIwould recommend the Wii.Hope I didnt ramble to much.

    Y'know, I dunno nuffin' fer video games... but I've played Wii and I think it's absolutely brilliant! Wii Fit is very cool, too. The games aremore simplistic, but at least they do get you physically involved.

    Just my input; I've played all three and own the PS3 and Xbox360.
    I'm a (nearly) 40 year old man who grew up playing video games;
    and I just never outgrew them.

    The bottom line for me was I do not want to do jumping jacks to play a game.
    A good video game for me transports me to another place and time,
    I can become someone (or something) else for a little while and that
    transformation happens almost entirely in my mind, in the brain.
    (And quickly moving thumbs and fingers. LOL)

    So yeah, maybe it's because I'm an older gamer who grew up before
    there was any effort on the part of video game developers to incorporate
    physical activity (or at least full arm motion) into playing the games,
    maybe it's because I'm just an older person; slower and not willing to jump around all the time,
    maybe it's because of some desire not to mess with a proven formula for me and video games,
    but I am not at all attracted to the Nintendo Wii.
    But then again, this is only my experience, and my preference according to my own tastes.
    (And no, I am not a round or barrel shaped couch potato blob playing games. LOL)

    I find myself playing the Xbox360 a lot - a whole lot.
    It has the greatest library of the type of games I personally like;
    first person shooters.

    But for a family, and for kids ... and for leaner more active young people
    (and the effort to STAY leaner than some others), perhaps a Wii would be perfect for you.
    But I wanted to give you my take on it, anyway. Greg
    :)

    Can't help with x-box as we don't have one yet.
    I have a 10 and 12 year old boy.We have both the Wii and PS3.
    Asked both of them the question and both basically said if your kids are younger the Wii
    if they are older the PS3.
    The older boy said most of the PS3 games are mature or teen rated.
    Hope it helps,Bob
    Any particular questions post here or email and I will ask my boys.

    Thanks for the varying opinions guys. Bob, my kids are 9 & 11, & my wife thinks that a PS3 would be too mature for them, & is urging me to buy theWii.
    More comments are very welcome in helping me make my decision. Thanks, Kevin

    My wife and I are in our forty's and we just got the Wii, because it has the fitness deals and that's what the wife wanted. So we have not got thefitness stuff yet but do have fun playing the games and we are not really into the whole video game deal. I was against getting it in the first place becauselike I really have time for it. It is fun and you can find games cheep, we went to one of those game stores and they had a buy two get one free and the gameswere twenty bucks each. Good luck!!
