And I'm NOT being factious!! Like a lot of you i've been following the MJ real life movie of the week and I caught Larry King last night and have asimple question WHO in the blue hell is All Sharpton and why is he at every famous black person's death these days?? What does he do, what has he done,what is (and Jesse Jackson for that matter) purpose in life??

He kept making references to Michael's tremendous influence on the black talent today (and I do agree with a lot of that, just look at the curent videos!)but is it because he is/was black, or just good?? Michael erased everything that was outwardly visible that associated him with being black and selected awhite woman to bear his kids, married Lisa Marie etc, so there was a lot he seemed to do to put distance from himself being black.

Sharpton went on to say if there were no Michael Jackson there wouldn't have been a path for such people as Tiger Woods and Barrack Obama??? Both of themare HALF white, where is the mention of that? I dunno...... The guy just strikes me as a parasite, more than he is a healer...........

I've had the exact same feeling Dave.

Jamie Fox had some strange comments too,
after he did his jacko impersonation at some awards show a night or two ago he
made a big deal about Michael Jackson being a "black man"
(he said it with strong emphasis twice) and then said (get this):
that Michael Jackson "....belongs to us", meaning the African American community,
and that they had simply "shared" him with the rest of the world.

I was really taken aback; I mean .. it's one thing to be proud of your herritage,
but I feel a bit bashed over the head by Michael's memory here,
for a cause (sic; "black pride") that I doubt the author of a song where he repeated that
"it doesn't matter if you're back or white" would approve of.

Jamie Fox and Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would never say those racist remarks while Michael was alive.

Michael obviously wasn't happy with the race he was born into so he changed it.

This Rev. Al Sharpton is a fat ass idiot reverend who is robbing his congregation blind. He is everywhere except his church. Hegets tons of dollars from his church members. He also didn't pay his taxes and got off easy. He charges for his speeches. I absolutely hate the SOB andif I drive into NYC and see his fat ass crossing the street, I might hit the brakes late while adjusting the radio station and opening my sun roof . Heyaccidents happen, right? He is always causing a scandal wherever he goes in NY. He will show up wherever a black person dies. Sometimes, it is a just causebut in this case like in the recent shooting of a black officer by a white cop. He asked for new training procedures for the NYC police and he was absolutelycorrect in demanding it. Yes, they need to be re-trained and not assume that all blacks holding a gun are thugs and that some of them are actually cops.....He has no bleeping business being there in LA. He loves to be in the news. I don't know how his congregation lets him getaway with this. He drivesaround in a nice, expensive car and he is always well dressed and yet he talks about NY 's poor black folks. Perhaps, if he drove an old car and ateless, there would be a fewer black poor folks in NYC.

He thinks that he is a civil rights leader but he isn't. His creditability went out the door when he supported Tawana Brawley years ago. This girlclaimed that she was assaulted by white teenagers when in reality she is a wacko and smeared her own body w/ her own feces. She lied. Sharpton was there nextto her yelling for the police to get these white people that did her wrong. In the end, she was a liar and Sharpton never apologized to NY. Anyway, he isa nobody who thinks that he is a somebody. If I were black, I would be embarrassed by this man. Anyway, he's got to be in his 70's. His runwill be ending soon..... and I won't apologize if I offend someone. I live in NY and see this jerk's face just about every day in the paper so havesome compassion for me and every other New Yorker that reads a NY newspaper.

Great point! This wasn't the only time he was on the wrong side and didn't admit it.

I lived thru this as it happened while I was in high school right down the street.I actually now her boyfriends sister.She tried to make sure whe didnt getinto trouble and it went way over board and the celebes who came out to help her were mostly tring to be good,but not Al. He helped ruin a few lives here.Nooneup here likes him and it doesnt matter if he was white or black.I do have to say he has changed for the better since back then but he still is all abouthimself.

Yes,he has lost some weight. Oh yes, the hair, it's a tribute to James Brown who was Sharpton's idol. Hmm, I wonder if he willchange hair styles now. He was also very present when James Brown died. He just wants to be in the news. Anyway, whenever I see his ugly mug on the tv, Ichange the channel or leave the room.
