You know...I'm thinking about waffling on this issue. I did cut my hair several years ago to get a job, but I had a mowhawk. I went in with a week'sworth of fuzz on the cue-ball. I got the job. So, for whatever that's worth...
I guess the best advice that I can give is: Live in the Moment; do what will get you to what you want most.

It's only freaking hair for christ sake! How old are you anyway?!
Steve, to be honest, that's EXACTLY the kind of thing I need to hear. Thank you.

And thanks to ALL for the excellent advice - it is truly heartfelt and appreciated!

And an update... the interview was rescheduled for next week... I called my friend and told him it'd be a real crunch for me to get everything together fortomorrow (not just the hair thing, but organizing drawings, renderings, etc.) and he said it'd be no problem at all to reschedule it for next week. Actually, that might not be a good thing - now I just have that much longer to consternate about it!

But it's lookin' like the hair's gonna go this weekend!!!! Change is good, eh? And I did promise myself I'd contribute to Locks of Love. Soit looks like it's time!

    It's a no brainer.
    Cut the hair!
    Cut the hair!
Cut the hair, donate it to the cancer wig thingy.
Long hair is so 80s/90s anyways.

Fear of scissors is making a life decision for you? C'mon Greg, you and I don't agree on much but doesn't this sound a bit odd? .....I don'tknow whether to improve my family's quality of life or whether to leave my hair alone. How does that sound? Sorry to be so direct but you taught me tospeak my mind on this board.........

imageI agree with ya AL! And any hairstyleor fashion from any time period goes these days. Long hair, like rock music will never die! I had long Robert Plant hair for decades but have it short now. Ifigure long hair is in your blood and a state of mind rather than an appearance! The one good thing about short hair, is that you can misbehave, and nobodywould suspect you!image

Donate the hair... if it is not long enough keep it for the time being, go to the interview, and explain why you have it...
That you have been able to grow it out, and have plans on donating it to a worthy cause. Just tell them the truth that it is a little short of beingdonatable...
Just keep it neat and go do the interview! In todays economy, every $ is important!

Greg, you need to do what YOU feel you need to do. My hair is very long and if someone told me I had to cutit in order to get a job, I'd pass on the job. I love my hair. It's part of who I am. You're growing yours out to donate it to a very worthy cause.Don't cut it until it's the length it needs to be in order to donate. If the people hiring you can't understand that then you're probablybetter off not working for them anyway. I'd rather work for someone who's a little compassionate and understanding, even if it's about "onlyhair" and I'm 35!
