Carousels - Didja Ever Notice ....

All traditional carousels (merry-go-rounds) in North America revolve counter-clockwise ....

Where-as in Europe and Australia, like their autos, it's just the opposite - they turn clock-wise !!!

.... Just in case anyone else happened to wonder.

I've heard that when you flush a toilet in Austraila the water spins in the opposite direction than it does here. Michael

Hmmm... as I remember hearing it, carousels have horses only and turn counter-clockwise, while merry-go-rounds have other animals (such as pigs, rabbits, etc.and are more popular on the other side of the pond) and turn clockwise....

That's true of all countries in the southern hemisphere. We're in the northern hemisphere. Hubby is from Argentina and when Iwent there, that was the first thing that I noticed about the toilets.

today on Craigs List is a steam powered 1880's carousel for sale in Cal. It does show a clip and it does turn counter clockwise.
