When I was 19 in 1966 I had a good friend who's parents died early, and left him everything. He invited me to come live with him. In 64 when his parentsdied, he paid cash for a brand new 64 1/2 Ford Gallaxy 500, black on black with a 427 and a four speed manual tranny. During the following year, he spentthousands of dollars on speed equipment for it, including a high rise manifold with 2 holley 4 barrels, a roller cam, a magnito, headers, 411 rear end gearscheater slicks etc. It was a pretty fast street machine.
So one evening we decided to go play some pool at the bowling alley, I ended up winning $20. from him. When we got home he said how about giving me a chance towin that $20. back, lets play some poker, (he was a serious gambler) I had one of those nights that I could not lose, I could draw to an inside straight andhit it. We played for hours and things got real serious, he kept making long odds bets trying to break even but he kept losing. Before I knew it, I was up$750. he was going crazy, he went to his room for a while, then came back and said that I was chicken s**t, if I wouldn't cut the cards double or nothing. This whole thing had gotten out of hand, and he was a good friend, so I agreed. We cut the cards and I won again, now he is behind $1,500. He actually startedcrying, and went back to his room, he came out a few mins later with the pink slip and keys to the Ford, and says Lets cut the cards one more time, If I losethe car is yours, I agreed, he cut an ace, so did I, so we cut again he cut a Jack, I cut a king......I just could not take his car, but I always regrettedbeing such a wimp.....
