Being as I am, the semantic pedantic, I hasten to point out that the term "lowrider" is actually a cultural term, referring to a (mostly) Latinolifestyle that is centered around 40's or 60's (not so much 50's) American cars with chrome rims, skinny tires, A LOT of brightwork, intricatemurals and paintwork, hydraulic suspensions that make the cars hop and dance, etc.

And re this ridiculously modified VW, if you have to ask "why?" the answer is "just 'cuz"!

Granted, I'm positive that thing would not appeal to very many people .... but you gotta admit, he's taken a LOT of metal out of that body and stillmanaged to maintain the original over-all shape of the bug ! Regardless of its appeal or even usability, that's some impressive metal work !

I think he should have somehow re-attached the running boards back on - even if they were attached separately to the body and door .... it might have helpedthat "scaped the bottom off" appearance.
