Captain Phil from Deadliest Catch died a couple weeks ago. He seemed like a great guy. I love that show, he will be missed

Yeah, I am a big fan of the show too. I used to own half of 40' commercial fishing boat, and was a commercial fisherman all during the 1970's. So the show always peaked my interest.


Captain Phil was a heavy smoker, I'll bet that is a big part of what caused him to have a stroke and sent him to an early grave.


I'm sure glad that I quit, after 47 years of sucking that poison. (almost 8 months now without a puff of a cigarette) Michael

I was wondering how long it would take one of you guys to put Phil up............... That guy, a man's man!!! 53 and done and he did it HIS way!!!!!!! Hope they dump him at sea.......

I love the show and I love the guy, but if you are a regular fan of the show and saw his health problems last season (nearly coughing up a lung and being rushed to a hospital and told he suffered from pulmonary issues) and saw that he was smoking even while in the hospital, (and after being released) you knew this was only a matter of time. Gonna miss him and hope his sons continue on.
