    Default NIKON COOLPIX...NEED HELP!!!

My other camera is giving me huge issues so I'm going to try this one...Nikon Coolpix S630...if someone could please send me what settings (ISO, etc...) are best if they have this camera I would greatly appreciate it! I'm using a photobox with two side lamps and an overhead.

Post here or email me if you'd be so kind!

    colinbruce@verizon.net

    Thanx in advance,

    Colin

Colin, I use a Coolpix and generally speaking I've never had to worry about ISO setting. I usually just use the "auto" function, and as long as you set the focus range for closeup (i.e. the little flower symbol) then you should be good to go. And unless you're going to print posters, there's no need to shoot at any more than 3-4 meg resolution.

Unfamiliar with this model Nikon... Try the close-up / macro mode in AE, then / adjust to your particular lighting preference in it's menu .... D

What Greg said but make sure you DO NOT use the zoom with the close up (flower icon)

You will want a small FStop ( large number like F 11 is a smaller opening than F 2.8) and a fast shutter speed ( 1/125 or higher - 1/250) for a sharp image. You can change your ISO to get your fstop and shutter speed up to where you want it. The problem with a high ISO is digitial noise or in film camera grain. The higher the ISO the more sensitive to ight the camera gets but the more it is sensitive to noise.

I would use no more than ISO 200-400 on a digicam. then adjust your shutter speed and FStop to where it is in balance. Also remember that most digicams do the processing in the camera, ie sharpening, color adjustment, so make sure you get it right. Also with a faster shutter speed your may not need a tripod. I recommend playing with it until you like what your seeing. Each persons lighting is different so there are no magic numbers but have fun and experiment.

This 1 was taken with my 50D DSLR with the following info -

    FStop 14 Shutter speed 1/80 ISO 400 w/ work in photoshop -
