    Default Heavyweights question

I recently got a heavyweight dump truck that has loose axles. I was able to remove the dump bed from the chassis and see the innards. The post holding the plastic strip which holds the axles doesn't hold the plastic strip tight to the base anymore. It looks in very good condition though. What is the best way to remedy this; try and put pressure on that post, like when it was made, or a simple fix like JB-ing around that post. Thank you in advance for any help and/or insight.

it sounds like the post that held the plastic suspension bar in place was not spun down all the way. your best bet (given that I haven't seen the truck) is to put glue under the suspension bar and then put the plastic suspension piece back over the post. It would be near impossible to respread the post that held the suspension bar in place.

I personally would not mess with it though. too big a chance for getting glue or epoxy on the body (which might or might not come off easily, and will probably take paint with it)

Thanks for your response, Kevin. The post holding the suspension piece is still intact and holding the suspension. It's just not tight. It allows enough play that, when sitting, the body bottoms out on the wheels and won't roll. I haven't and won't try removing the suspension. I just want to re-secure it tightly to the base. With the bed removed, I have very good access to the suspension. I figured I couldn't do anything with the post, but thought I'd ask if anyone has tried it before. I'm thinking my best bet, as you suggested, is to use some type of adhesive to bond the suspension back to the chassis. I think I could do this easily without marring anything.

This is another dump that I got. The dump bed base was already cracked so I tried removing it before I tried on the other with the suspension problem. This pic shows small tabs in the base that are not on the other with the problem.

ok, so you would need to put a drop of glue or epoxy roughly where those tabs are on the other truck, and use a clamp or something to hold it in place while the adhesive dries (just don't overtighten else the plastic piece will snap in 2)
