Default eBay FEEDBACK System. Did You Guys Know.....

....You can be neg'd by a buyer on eBay after you win a Non-Paying-Bidder case, and it has been closed?

I had a little tangle with an idiot eBayer over the last few weeks which I had to straighten out. First the flaw with eBay's feedback, then the story.

I don't know if any of you guys know this, but if you have to open a Non-Paying-Bidder case against a buyer for not paying, that once the case is settled and is found in YOUR favour, that the buyer can STILL leave feedback, either pos or neg. This is obviously a flaw with their feedback system and SHOULD be rectified. I thought that once a case was found in YOUR favour, a buyer would be blocked from leaving ANY feedback for you.

    Story:
About 3 weeks ago, some NEWBIE with 1 point won a $60 car from me. My auction states to pay within 5 days but if you need longer, just message me. Most people pay within 24hrs anyhow.

A few days went by and I hadn't heard anything from him, so I messaged to ask for him to please update me on the transaction. He replied "I'll pay Monday or Tuesday". I thought that would be alright. He's new, no problem. So Tues night came and went, no payment, no message. Wednesday came and went, no pay or message. Then later Thurs night I messaged to ask what's up. His reply was that he got the car, had left me feedback, and had received it from me. I hadn't sent it, nor left or received feedback.

So having patience with a newbie, and not getting upset I told him to check my auction and he'll see the mistake. So a few more days went by, no pay, no message. So I'm now thinking (pondering Ryan's post about blocking newbies from bidding) I don't want to screw around with the guy any longer and will file a Non-Pay-Bidder claim to get a credit for the $5.61 ebay billed me. So I messaged him to say please pay, or I'll have to file a claim to get the credit. No response from him, so I filed.
Next day I get a message from him complaining about the N-P-B case, and now that I've done that, why should he even pay, now that somehow eBay would punish him anyhow. I told him he has 4 days to reply or pay with no consequence. Again, no pay, no reply.

I filed, got a credit, and just relisted the item, and thought it was over. Obviously I couldn't leave any negative FB for him, and wouldn't have anyhow. Just wrote it off on a wide-eyed newbie who bit off more than he could or would chew. An irritance, but no big deal.

Here's the clincher. I had some items ending on Friday night, with plenty of watchers. I thought I'd hopefully sell an item or 2 maybe. So Friday afternoon, I log into eBay to check my listings only to discover my 302 eBay points were reduced to 301. Thought that was odd, clicked on my number only to discover a 96.9% rating instead on my 100%.
The malicious little SOB had waited until the last day of my auctions to leave a neg and sabotage my auctions. I got VERY angry and thought great, any prospective buyers will see that and avoid my auctions, or bid far less. I had given him every break possible, and never bad mouthed him.

So I then filed a Feedback Abuse claim from the feedback page for the auction and hoped eBay would QUICK rectify the problem. They did very fast, restored my feedback, BOOTED him, and also removed the negs he had maliciously left for another seller.

He originally had 1 point when he bid on my auction, by yesterday he had 9, but in 10 transactions he had Non-Payed me, left me and another seller a neg, and who knows how many others he messed up while wreaking havoc in his short stint on eBay.

So BEWARE that you may still be neg'd after winning a N-P-Bidder case. I'm gonna try to get eBay to change this.

Just for the record in case this guy gets re-instated on eBay, his particulars are:

    username: help990

name: Brad Jacops (yes, with a 'p')
    .......Tulsa, Oklahoma

Maybe block him from bidding on your stuff.

I figure I'm still doin' good though,...only had to deal with 2 idiots out of 303 transactions over 5+ years on eBay, and still have that all important 100% rating.

Unbelievable Andy. I had something very similar just happen to be. The newbie won the bid (by a dollar on a $149 win) then emails me to ask if I would offer a discount!!! I said, wtf were you thinking, this is an AUCTION. So he replies and tells me to "take it easy, I was just asking"-his location is listed as Indonesia, I'm in NY. So I let him know thanks for destroying the auction and cancel it. He never replies. Ebay did me a "one time favor" and credited me for the listing fees. No more accepting bids from low or non-transaction count bidders-I understand why now.

To rub salt in the wound, I try to sell the item here ( a Troy Lee Dairy) and bigorangecat (RLOL user ID) makes a comment on the post about it being too high priced-what a d**che!

    Thanks for the info!

    -John

In addition to not making the sale, ebay also charged the value fee, and won't credit until the buyer responds to the cancellation (sure he will!) or 7 days has elapsed-so I was charged an additional $14 for an item that didn't sell. The Toy Peddler is looking better every day.
