My main bike since 1991. Although I have owned more than 20 of them since then.

What I used to do for fun . . . ROADRACING!

SV-650 is a GREAT option for a first bike if you are going the sport bike route, which based on your OP, looks like you are leaning toward. If you've got riding experience, I'd go the SV-1000 route...you'll be dissapointed with the lack of power in a 650 if you are used to riding..
I personally ride a Ducati 1098s, it is my favorite of all bikes I've owned and ridded. I've ridden and or owned nearly every superbike out there (except a R1/R6, never have liked them).. and say Suzuki and Honda are the best bang for the buck. Ducati's are awesome pieces of machinery, but pricey to buy, and maintain...whereas Hondas/Suzukis are more durable, and less expensive all around. The SV is a good choice because it sits you more upright, has great torque, and is fun for short distance riding. My roommate currently has 1, as his first bike.
    Thanks, Tom

    Sweet ride S-King!
Z-man, I saw that exact same Yamaha ride by today while crossing the street.
Good advice Tom. I don't have prior riding experience, but I do race bicycles. Obviously, the speed is nowhere near the same, but I do have experience leaning my bicycle hard into sharp turns at speeds in excess of 30mph as well as fast twisty descents down mountains and curvy roads where I was able to maintain the same speeds as motorcycles. All that said, I know that it is still a different animal. I'll start out reasonable for sure.

Some good looking bikes being posted up. I'll take the advice to test ride for sure. There's a few places nearby that I should be able to do that. It looks like it will be a process, but just like hunting reds, that will be one of the fun parts.
Did anyone notice that the two Sizzler guys were the first to post up sport bikes? Is their any correlation there? SSizler, how tall are you? I'm 6'-0".
HDDon, I'll check out the V Rod.
I'll probably be back to ask more questions.

    Hi Steve,
    I am 6' 4" tall, with a 38" inseam.
I feel cramped on most motorcycles.
The FZ1 is the first bike that felt good since I bought a CBX new back in 1980.
There are a lot of nice bikes and good advice coming out on this thread.
Here is another bike I have owned and maintained for about 15 years now.
I found it in the back of a garage. Needed a clean-up and TLC.
All original, including tires. I did have to replace the battery and an inner tube.
Otherwise all 1971 baby! Candy Topaz Orange Honda CL 175. (older pics but still the same today)

It had 1700 miles on it when I bought it. I REALLY enjoyed adding all the additional miles.
It is quite the cruise nite attention getter too.
Seems everyone used to own one of these.......

Uh-oh, Steve, looks like this is becoming a bike show! Here's my '77 XT500 without the street tires that are usually on it...I'm 6-2, plenty of bike for me...I don't know that I would recommend one for everyday use, though. Your ankle will never be the same...but Rambo stole one in 'First Blood!' Fun bike!

Ducati 1198 Superbike is an absolute monster. Best balanced bike I have ever been on. Ungodly power and handling.

I see Triumph is back building motorcycles. I have no idea how good they are, but they were a popular bike back in the '60s. My Dad had a 650.

The British can't build a decent car, cook, or make toothbrushes, but they did make a decent motorbike and WWII fighter plane.

Here's my scoot. I purchased this one new in 1990 and have enjoyed it ever since. Those are some really cool bikes. I love the Honda CL175. What year, make and model is the pre war bike?
