To all the Vets, near and far, those who've fallen and survived, those gone and still with us, a heartfelt..THANK YOU!
I read this piece this morning, and had to bring it here.

Heroes, by Cameron Rhodes
I wave good bye to all I love to fight a war that is not my own.
A fear consumes me from with in that I may not return home again.
I know its for a greater good; I'm fighting for those who never could.
Brothers and friends at my side; we march together stride by stride.
With foreign people in a foreign place, we carry on day by day.
Week by week and month by month, we keep on fighting, we carry on.
Weathered, worn and pushed to the edge, we continue to march, we keep our pledge.
A band of brothers silhouette the sunset, a sight the liberated will never forget.
Years gone by, the war rages on, new faces replace friends loved and lost.
Home is a dream to which we hold tight, a blessed vision to comfort lonely nights.
Years gone by and we are given a chance to return to the place from which we left.
Lovers, partners, family and friends long for us to return to them.
We arrive home changed men, older and wiser, medals abreast.
We left as boys and returned as men images burned in the back of our heads.
We fought for freedom, we fought for life, for our sons, our daughters and for our wives.
A heroes welcome is what we got because heroes is what we are.
On this day we remember our time, our fallen brothers and those still alive.
We pray our sons and grandsons must never face what we did when we were their age.
Lets give thanks to those who gave their lives for their country, their people, for the good of man kind.
It was their courage, their strength that carried on, in their Brothers, their Soldiers, who fought the war.
