So, what is the one Christmas present my son wanted this year? Yup, Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle. Would have been nice if he had mentioned it sooner, but no problemo.
Just check out the stores on the way home from work....
Plenty around...
Heck, buy one, get one half off at Target...
Talk to the wife about it...
It's Christmas so it's OK...
This one will be from Santa just to keep him believing for one more year...

I can't get over how nobody was buying these sets (including me) and now they're gold. Finally choked it down and paid the premium on the bay.
He's worth it, but it's going to take a while for me to cool down from this one.

Its cool i remember when furbys first came out saw them on the shelves at target and thought, what an ugly toy, who'd buy it, then the craze hit

This is classic. I stopped at Walmart on the way home today. Online says sold out, but I was hoping to get him the Hagrid Hut set as well. Sort of make up a story about how we couldn't get castle and got Hagrid instead. Ta-da! Right there on the shelf. No castle, but that ship has sailed anyway right? Hit a display with some HWs in it and get a Super '57 Chevy (only the second Super I've ever found there), a Danicar with all medium rear wheels, 3 red Merc Dragsters with dark gray bases and wheelie bars, and an asw Talledega.
Naturally, I figure if this place had the display the other might too. I get there and no HWs in this display so I go to the pegs which, coincidentally, are in the same aisle as the Legos. Quick look at the HWs and bupkus. Start walking down to look at the Matchbox and sitting right there in the Legos....TWO Hogwarts castles.......

Update. I didn't buy the Castles since I didn't want to mess up anybody else's Christmas. I was seriously tempted to buy one for "insurance", in case there was a problem with the one I ordered, but I let them go.
My set finally arrived....wrapped in brown paper and dripping Legos. One end of the box was smashed open, bag 7 was dripping pieces and I have no clue if they wound up in the box or what all might be missing as there was a variety of bits and pieces floating around.
The seller has been quite polite in everything except offering a refund so eBay Buyer Protection here we come. I've already lost an auction on eBay over another and missed bidding on another while my wife and I were talking about it.
I hope Ben loves this set when I come up with another. Personally, I'm going to have a bitter taste in my mouth over it for a while.

Man, I'm glad my kids are grown after reading that fiasco. Merry Christmas, it can only get better from here.
