Default Anyone know anything about diesel Cadilacs

A guy down the street is selling an 82 Eldorado diesel.
    45,000 miles
    mint condition
    $7,000.00

I have never heard of a diesel caddy and after a quick search online all I found was bad reviews.

    Are they really that bad????

Would I be stupid to buy it???

Anyone ever own one and have anything to say about them???

I'm looking for all the advice and opinions I can get.

    DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No really, don't buy it unless it was around $500 and use it as a Demo car, lol. Olds used the same engine, nothing but problems. It is just a Olds 350ci set up to run diesel. Hope that helps ya.

I think $7000 is really alot for a deisel caddy, were the reviews bad because of the noise or was the engine bad? Of course with it being a diesel you could run other fuels, but it seems odd a luxury car as a diesel, in my part of the country, diesel is more $ than premium, just seems about $4k too much, imo

Its amazing that it still has the diesel in it. Nearly all of those have been taken out and replaced with a gas engine. I know!........ You could take it out and replace it with a Cadillac 4100, Ha Ha.

This is probably GM's version of the EDSEL. Maybe as an investment, this Classic could be a money maker in the future-just because MOST of them have been crushed or either had there diesels swapped out. I would try to talk him down a bit though, $7K is a bit steep uness you are really attached to this kind of car. There was an '83 Olds like this at a junkyard in my area-they sold it. It surprisingly had little rust on it, and was very complete.

These cars are nearly 30 year old Classics now like it or not-and I'm not quite old enough to remember these things so I can't say on they're reliability personally, but I hear they weren't too good. As said, these are trailer queen cars.

Hey Matt, $7000.00 sounds like WAAAAAY too much money. I just bought an 89 Cad Deville with 22000 miles in perfect cond. for less than half of that price. Also that diesel motor was the biggest POS GM ever came up with. Do yourself a favor and stay away from that one. Just my opinion.

Just got back from checking out the car.
It took about 15 minutes to get the car to start and when I test drove it two miles down the road it stalled out.

I think I'll pass on it LOL.

What did I tell you? If a collector buys these, they are to be trailer queens! For good reason...GM EDSELS! LMAO
