Cleaning super nice redline from a smokers house?

Hi guys, no I am not a smoking basher, was just wondering whats the best stuff to use to get rid of the smell. Recently purchsed a nice car from the site and when I opened it all you could smell was cigaret comming off the car. Whats the best way to clean it to remove the smoke residue and the smell? Thanks for all your help.

I find that a very small spray of Windex on a paper towel or soft cloth cleans cars up nice, restores the twinkle,...and makes 'em smell nice and clean..

...maybe a little on a Q-Tip and get as much of the interior as possible....

This happened to me too, as soon as I opened the package I was overwhelmed with the smell of stale cigarettes. Gross, isnt it?

I put the car in a large tupperware bowl with a small dish of vinegar (not in the vinegar, next to it) covered it overnight and the next morning the smell was gone. I put the lid on loose.

I wonder if a little baking soda in water might work to remove any undesireable 'scents'...? Not sure if soda dissolves in water though...

If you want to make a square egg,...put one in a small like sized container and soak it in vinegar for a little while...

What exactly THAT has to do with the topic of this thread..... we're NOT sure...

I Have had buyers complain a couple times on stuff I have sold. Nobody smokes here, but who knows what they were exposed to before I got them?
I always wipe them down with glass cleaner and soft cloth. I spray my boxes with Lysol before taping them up. But... that has not always worked I guess.
The latest guy waited 45 days, then left it on feedback that his items were stinky. He claims he used alcohol and that worked though.
I think he might'a drank some before he left feedback though, lol

We are talking about 40 year old toys that have been ... who know were?

But Might try glass cleaner, since ammonia evaporates so fast, and kills alot of smells.

This is something I can relate to and have been called every name in the book about it. I am hyper sensitive to cigarettes. They can trigger migraine headaches for me in a severe way. I have a few blackwall carry cases that came from a smokers home. Initially, I removed the cars and trays then sprayed the case, trays and cars with lysol and let the case and trays set outside for a week. I sprayed the cars with lysol, let sit for an hour, rinsed with warm water and used a blow drier to quickly dry them. The smell was drastically reduced and I was glad about that. I pulled out that case a week later and I kid you not, it smelled like flowery cigarettes! I searched online for solutions and have yet to find a REAL fix. I'm going to put a scented dryer sheet in that case right now and let you know what happens in another week.

Just a thought,... Even if you 'Mask' the scent of smogs,...wouldn't the ingredient in the cigarette residue remain, and still cause the migraines regardless...?, even if it is flowery smelling?

It would, but I'm wondering if it could dominate and suppress the overwhelmingness (is that a word?) of it. For me, a whiff or "passbuy" of cigarette smoke/scent won't cause the headaches, it's a prolonged exposure to it. Sometimes 5 minutes can do it for me. Also, everybody has different levels of sensitivity. I would love to find the real solution.

I'm going to put a scented dryer sheet in that case right now and let you know what happens in another week.

I do that also. I cut dryer sheets in half and put them in all my carry cases.
I use to sell alot of Nascar Autographed Hats. Well signed at the track, you can imagine the smells that fabric will hold. I use to put half dryer sheet in the cap, then into a plastic bag.

Here is a funny one though. I bought a larger set of cars on here about a year back. I get the box, open it......Wintergreen smell. Smells like Pepto!
Then I realize the box he shipped in was marked Lifesavers Wintergreen Mints. Even all the packing you could smell across the room.
