Ok i will just jump to the action, noticed today that my tortise had knocked over some ladders so i picked them up and got stung some three or four times on my forehead and once on my hand by wasps, I thank God that i am not allergic to bee stings, nor aparently wasp stings either, but man them little suckers hit hard, i got zapped at right around 7:45 pm and still feel it two hours later, at 8:30 pm i sprayed them little suckers, will check in the morning if i missed any. Anyway ice seems to help it is amazing how fast they can move when riled up. Hopefully my friend E will read this an post a pick of the wasps he keeps.

Oh yeah Robert them bees can get nasty.Its not fun being up on a 40 foot laddar fixing a house and have them swarm upon you.Cant get to the ground fast enough unless you jump ha ha.Forget raid in a spray can,the best fix when they invade our homes is a concentrated mix of Talstar,they wont come back hee hee.Good news they are an important part of Nature and so we need them.

Did you say tortise and a Wasp lol ...



Try a glob of mud on those stings,it really does help.

Eric, actually now you cant even tell i got stung at all, but for bees and wasps wd40 will kill them, i wiped out a whole hive once with some wd40

I dunno about wd40 Robert ... Its flammable lol.Yeah gas would kill bees too but on the job site the home owners may not like the idea ha ha.Anyways glad your wounds have healed because some folks need a hospital right away after being stung.

We've had the "luck" to have had three hives take up residence at our house in the last 5 or 6 years - at least one of them was designated as "killer bees" and another was debatable. Our exterminator is a good friend of ours so I helped with with the last two. In both case he used a soap solution consisting of Dawn dishwashing soap and water. Not much soap either for that matter. The last time the little buggers managed to get up into our wall behind a shrub. We waited until dusk and the bees returned to the hive and calmed down. Believe it or not, with an estimated 10,000 bees in my wall, I was able to cut the shrub back enough to give us access with Doug standing watch over me with a sprayer full of his solution. We drilled a small hole into the wall, he dropped some type of chemical bomb into it and nailed any bees that were escaping with the soapy water. I had to get up a 20 foot ladder in our entry the next day and was contending with the few bees that hadn't made it back to the hive. I took a small spray bottle full of soap solution up with me and would down them as soon as they got close.

I just did 24 shutters and hornets nest behind everyone...so get them early in the am and they are pretty lethargic, but u have to wear leather gloves unless you grab the shudder. I hate ladders in general but being up 20' with them babies is no fun at all!

I sent the wife up, she got stung and quit on me!

try getting rid of Black Widow Spider nests! I'll take the Bee's anytime!

Dan - I live in Arizona. In the desert. I have plenty of experience dealing with Black Widows. And scorpions. And rattlesnakes. And all sorts of creepy-crawlers. And I have to admit that one of the worst feelings you can have is accidently walking through or even brushing up against a Black Widow web at night (or in the day for that matter) - for those unfamiliar with it, the black widow web is 5 times stronger than steel and makes a ripping sound when you break it. Or when a Black Widow egg sac bursts and what looks like hundreds of the little bastards (bitches?) go scurrying all over the place. But even that doesn't compare to the scare you'll get when standing in your front yard as 25,000 potentially Africanized bees descend from over your head and into their hive right in front of you.

Now, I'm not sure exactly where you live, other than Daytona Beach, but what I can't imagine is being waterfront there and having to worry about running into alligators any time I wandered out. I might just take the bees and the Black Widows over that!
