SWAP MEET FIND - CIRCA 1970 - SCHWINNS RULE!

WOW! took my daughter to the Swap Meet this morning and this is what we found. It was too cool to pass up and all original except for the knobbytires, they are after market from back in the day. The paint is that Schwinn blue and in decent shape for 38 years, decals, handle grips ok and seat has notears at all, just a few scuffs on the sissy bar and frame from the kid riding it and laying her down.





She's a cool Schwinn Stingray and ready to ride, it cruises smooth as silk. All she needs is the original style slick in the rear and mild style fronttire. I'll be on the look-out for those.

BTW, I still have my 1970 Schwinn Varsity in metallic green from when I was a kid. I have had it in dry storage for 10 years and cleaned him up today andpumped up the tires. He rides as good as he did back in the day.

Jack.....cool bike! I still have my Schwinn Varsity. You should see it! It is Lemon Yellow. I have to get correct tires. Schwinn made proprietary sized tiresfor their rims. I found out the hard way. They would keep blowing out. It is the design of the edge of the tire! Schwinn can get me the tires I need. I'msure that they can get you one of those slicks. I have seen the Apple Krates and such in the Schwinn shop I go to.

Found out something interesting. I was doing research on the Schwinn Stingray girls bikes because the logos and such on the chain guard are worn offdue leg/foot wear. "Schwinn" is still there towards the rear, if you look at the CG at an angle you can see "Lil Chik" at the middle tofront, so now I know it is the "sporty" model like the boys bike, this explains the flaired rear fender with ducktail and plain white seat. The"Fair Lady"model's rear fender is like a complete "C" shape continuing down the back covering half the tire and came with a flower seatand most of the time, white handle grips. Learned something new about "Bluesy", that's what we call her, a ROCKIN "Lil Chik". Historyabout old toys always fascinates me.

Cool find Jack, i believe that Schwinn also made one for girls called a "Slik Chik", that had the Stingray cheater slik on therear........

Right you are Johnny about the "Slik Chik" model. I just won an original Schwinn owners manual on eBay, it lists all the Stringrays for boysand girls from back in the day. It even still has the warranty card and black hang string. Will show some pics when it arrives.
