The Illustrated 'Blade Runner'

Was going through one of my conceptual art files this morning and found something really cool that I forgot I had. This is a very rare first edition print ofthe 'Blade Runner' screenplay with some of the storyboard images that was released just after the film. Neat stuff, check out a couple of scans(it's brittle, so I only did a few)...

Very cool. So here's the question. Was he, or was he not, a replicant?

He is indeed (hence the origami unicorn). If you can get the director's cut (sans voiceovers and dreamy upbeat conclusion)), the story's more clear.

Where do you get this stuff man!!! That is brilliant.
I love the imagery from the early conceptual stages of movies like that. I used to have some early artwork from the original Star Wars movie that was done byRalph McQuarrie. Very cool stuff.
The artist who did some of the Blade Runner work, Syd Mead is one of my absolute favorites. He's got some great futuristic work that he did back in the60's and 70's.

Syd Mead Rules the roost when it comes to visionary artwork...I think it was last year when I posted a few of these huge prints from US Steel done by Meadabout 35 years ago. There are about 18 or 20 of them...

Blade Runner is easily one of my top 5 favourites.
When Director Scott made his " Final Cut",and it hit a few theaters in limited release last winter,I was very disappointed to have missed thescreenings.
The look and feel and sound of this picture are just phenominal.
Scott does give us the clue that Deckard IS a replicant,with the Unicorn dream scene/oragami unicorn connection. But Harrison Ford always said,at the time offilming,he was told that Deckard was NOT a replicant..Sooo..

I don't think any Blade Runner showings of drawn inspiration would be complete with out this one..



Apparently Scott kept showing Nighthawks to all the crew telling them THIS was the feel he wanted for the movie.

A true classic.

Oh,and I'm probably the only one who actually LIKES the voice over. lol.
