    Default Ace Frehley's Anomaly

Not sure if it's that I had no expectations whatsoever when I heard of this or if the music is that good, but it's been a pleasant surprise listeningto this CD. The instrumental Fractured Quantum, the song Outer Space and the remake of Fox on the Run are worth the price of the CD by themselves. Even thegoofy A Little Below the Angels is poignant in an odd way. If Gene Simmons were to put a check on that monster ego, stick to bass playing as opposed towriting unlistenable songs and brought in Ace, maybe the last KISS album would've been memorable. Anybody else get this CD?

I'll give it a listen. I'm going to see Kiss in Winnipeg in two weeks. I have been obsessing on Youtube for the last three days, listening to Kiss from74-77.Absolutely awesome!! The sad fact is that there is a synergy that occurs with really great bands. The band is far more than the sum of their parts.Individually they cant live up to the original magic. Whether its Kiss, The Stones, Zeppelin. The solo efforts just dont cut it. Ace is a magnificent guitarplayer. He was at his greatest with the original line up in the first years IMHO. Give this a listen.Raw and fantastic. Its from the Winterland concert in1975. Kissology 74-77. I saw them in 1976 on the Alive tour. Wow---mike

I'm not a big fan but Kiss isn't Kiss without Ace IMO.

Remake of Sweet's Fox on the Run? I'm a wee bit embarrassed to admit that I really kind of like Sweet and I hope Ace
    didn't screw it up.

some songs you don't mess with. LOL

I looked up Fox on the Run. Being that Ace was certainly involved in the scene at the time of Fox on the Run initial releases he seems to not have messed withit much.

    It's a nice cover.

    That youtube link rocked.

I also bought Sonic Boom. I love the track 'Say Yeah.' Like most KISS albums since the early 80's, I like the Paul Stanley jams, skip overGene's stuff. 'I Love it Loud' was the last song I liked by the god of thunder. Funny thing is I've heard Paul and Gene apologize for PsychoCircus saying not everyone was on the same page. Well, I listened to it again today and I think it's better than Sonic Boom.

I guess what impresses me so much about the Ace CD is that it seemingly came out of nowhere. The more I listen to the instrumentals, the better I like them.

Oh, I liked Sweet too. Desolation Boulevard was the first album I ever bought with my own dough. God, I must've been all of 8 years old. Took me a fewyears to understand their song 'AC/DC.' :)

I have to agree but have always loved most of what Ace has done solo wise as well. His 'Frehley's Comet' & first solo in 78were his best IMO but his work through 78 w/Kiss was what I consider his best work ever as an artist/guitarist. Kiss Alive is still my all time favorite withAce's work just so incredible & mind blowing & with Alive II & 'Shock Me'. The tone he plays with is so distinguishable and I willprobably get Anomaly because I'm a sucker for his music. Desolation Boulevard is the best Sweet record and can't wait to here Ace's 'Fox On TheRun' as I'm sure he plays tribute to it right.

Holy crap, that's the Paul Lynde Halloween special. I remember that from when I was a kid.
