The 2JZ block comes from the factory with forged internals so you can slap almost anything on it and it can handle it. The car is already rwd which can't be said for too many imports and let's not forget the single or twin turbo option. Toyota was said to be bringing the Supra back pretty soon but only time will tell...
If they want to salvage their reputation they better bring it back fast. Company is going down the tubes after all the mishaps they have had.
