I was home this evening, surfing the internet in my office @ 8:04 pm when that quake hit tonight.... it was a good one, and as I felt my house rock back &forth for quite some time, I looked around and heard my cars (gently) rolling back & forth inside the wall mounted Giovanni cases!

I'm up the peninsula from you Dave, I'll bet you really felt it in San Jose....Even at a size 5.6 magnitude, the quake was somewhat minor enough thatfortunately nothing was damaged. Regardless, that episode made me stop & think about maybe using a small piece of clay under the cars to hold them inplace....we'll have to look into that more image

My kids were up stairs and they felt it real good, kinda made them excited, but the dog got upset and began barking quite a bit...she knew something was goingon.

Just another fun evening in Northen California.

    Ken

    Dave:
Glad you and your family are safe and no major damage. Seems like every part of the county has its fear of some kind of major
disaster that can happen. Here in the midwest we live in what they call tornado alley. About the closet a tornado has come to our home was about a little lessthan a mile away a few years ago. I wouldn't live in a house in our area without a basement.
    Stay safe

All is well in San Jose...lol. I lost a olive oil bottle, one of my house plants fell..and my framed HW poster fell off the wall. But my cars in the displaycase had no damage at all...those earthquake putty's really work. It was a pretty decent shaker for these parts...

Ken since you're just up the peninsula from me, I'd definitely consider using those earthquake puttys!

I guess I can't complain about the long ,cold Winters here in the Northeast. My best buddy lives in the LA area and has ashes all over his car and now anearthquake.

I've been through tornadoes, hurricanes/typhoons (same kinda storm, different part of the world) and one tremblor. At least with hurricanes and typhoons,we knew they were coming. That tremblor was pretty mild, but I was getting over the measles and about to leave people and a country that I loved but thatlittle rumbling that only cracked a few buildings was enough for me to want to leave. I can't even imagine a 4.0, much less one like you guys out west hadyesterday.
